Terra Vitis

In 2024, more than 300 Bordeaux estates, growers, cooperative wineries and merchants are Terra Vitis–certified.

Founded in 1998, Terra Vitis is a national certification recognised by the French Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty. Exclusively dedicated to the wine industry, it certifies sustainable viticulture grounded in responsible practices tailored to the realities of winegrowing.

Terra Vitis also offers consumers a strong guarantee of transparency and traceability, as the certification applies to every stage of wine production, from vineyard to bottle.

The Terra Vitis specifications currently include nearly 80 control points. Designed by winegrowers, for winegrowers, this comprehensive framework ensures commitment across three key areas: Environmental responsibility, Social responsibility and Economic sustainability

At national level, Terra Vitis brings together 7 regional associations, 1,880 estates, cooperative members, cooperative wineries and merchants, 45,000 hectares of vineyards (around 5% of the French vineyard) and 300 million bottles produced each year.
